Blacky von Baldwyn
Blacky von Baldwyn is a sweet gentle 4 year old German Shepherd on the larger side weighing in at 95 lbs. He is good with people, kids and other dogs large and small. Although Blacky was not allowed in the house by his former owner, he is learning what is acceptable behavior in the house from his foster K9-brother and sister. He has mastered the doggie door and is now starting to relax in this strange new world of indoors. He loves attention and will press up against you to get to let you know he is ready for his ear scratch. He is very people oriented and follows his foster dad everywhere. He loves his Kong toy and is very adept at getting out the goodies hiding inside. When it is time to retire for the evening he will go lay on his bed. Blacky is affected by a condition that is common in German Shepherds, epilepsy. It is controlled by medication and dogs with epilepsy can lead normal lives like Blacky. His condition is treated with phenobarbital, which is inexpensive at $20.00 per month. That is less than going to Starbucks for a month. Blacky has been to see Westside’s wonderful Neurologist, Dr. Sammut at VCA, West LA. She gave us the good news that everything looks good for him. He was a perfect gentleman at the Vets office. He greeted a little girl and her mother coming down the stairs so sweetly. He ignored the small min pins sitting across from him that were barking and creating a scene. In short he was perfectly behaved. Blacky will make some lucky family a great companion. |
